Would You Want to Be Famous?
There is a great discussion going on over at Fred’s Sentenced to Write, where he talks about how people perceive famous actors, writers, and musicians. When I first started writing, all I could think about was becoming a best selling novelist. While I still have that ambition, there is the price to consider.

Deb - Thanks for the plug. BTW - I never thought of you as a biker chick, lol. Although after reading some of your posts recently, I am sure that you are a rocker at heart.

You’re very welcome.
Nope, don’t like bikes. There’s too much open space and too many idiot drivers on the road. I’ve been a rocker since I was fourteen, although I have branched out to Alternative and some pop.
What’s making me crazy is that all the rock stations have gone belly-up and are getting replaced with Spanish stations. Thank God for the Internet and iTunes!

I like alternative as well. I have given up on regular radio and now have Satellite radio in my car. It is most awesome. They have a great selection of stations and you hear lots of stuff that they would never play on the radio!

I don’t want to be famous. I just want to make enough money in order to leave work and support the family (I’m the bread winner in my family).
I really don’t want the book signing, and visiting schools to chat with masses of people. That is just NOT me. I’m shy, and I’d find it all too stressful.
Writing and selling enough to leave my job would be ideal. And believe me, I don’t need much to be happy.

Fred: I’ll have to check out satellite radio.
Karen: I agree with you 100%. The very idea of people fawning all over me makes me want to hide. Earning a consistent and comfortable living from my writing is what I’m shooting for.

I’d hate to be famous. (not that there’s much chance of it any way). Now rich on the other hand, I’d love to be rich, just not famous.

I’m with you on that one, Lee.
