The Anthology: Stage Two
The submission deadline passed. Now comes the fun part: compiling and editing this book into something useful and entertaining. When I first started gathering the submissions, I had a format in place. I was going to categorize each by genre–fiction, nonfiction, poetry, etc.
Last month, I’d compiled the submissions I had into a draft (minus the reader comments) in order to see how many pages I would have. This was before I received double and triple-submissions, some of them in more than one category. I’ve run into a redundancy issue as far as the formatting. With the present format I have:

1. Title of the blog/Author
2. Thumbnail graphic of the blog
3. Author Profile (byline)
4. Post
5. Reader comments to Post
The redundancy I’m thinking about is not so much the graphic but the author profile showing up in more than one place inside the book. This might not be a big issue, but it’s got me thinking about whether or not my original concept is going to work.
Plan B
At the moment, I’m considering separating this book by author instead of genres, indicating what genre the post is if it’s not obvious. Plan B was conceived due to the milblog section, as I have only one author for that.
That’s where I’m at right now. Once I get each section formatted and edited, I’m going to compile it into a PDF for the contributing authors to review. If you would like to receive a copy, please contact me by email.

Yes, I think the author division is the most logical one, Deborah. And, you remind me, I still haven’t sent you my biog. It will come today - promise. I actually don’t like writing about myself (modest English genes - a Hugh Grant sort of thing), so it’s a bit of a struggle. however, I’ll find something to put in.
Yes, I’d like to receive the PDF. Thanks.

That makes sense, to go by author name. I guess you could do cross-referencing, but that could get congested LOL
Is this strictly an e-book?
Are you using Adobe Acrobat?
Really proud of you for taking this on! Best wishes!

John: You’re not the only bashful one. Just jot down a blurb about your books and your blog network.
Marti: No, this isn’t going to be strictly an ebook. I’m compiling a draft first, which I will send to the contributors for them to proofread their entries for any mistakes I’ve made. Once I get the manuscript polished, I’ll shop it around to publishers.
Oh, and yes, I’m using Acrobat so everyone can read it.

I’ll give you a plan C, but I think it’s stupid, so better stick with your author plan.
I was thinking you can keep the genre headings and have contributors at the end of the book, not at each entry. But your plan sounds better, because it actually relates entry to writer-blogger.

Now that I’m a bit more awake (thank god for sugar and caffeine!), I understand what you’re getting at. For now, I’ll stick with Plan B. Once I get this book compiled, I’ll need plenty of critiques.
