I enjoyed it overall. However, after discussing the book with Lee, I agree that King could have fleshed out the main characters a bit more.

I am the same way. I used to be able to read lots of books. The only time that I really can read now is before bed. I'm lucky if I can get though a few pages before nodding off.

How was "Cell"?

Fred: I haven't read Rising Sun, although I enjoyed Crichton's "Jurassic Park" and have his latest novel on my To Read pile.

Pat: I've become a very slow reader. It used to take me about two weeks to read a 300+ page novel. Now, it takes me twice as long. Unless I'm required to review it, I often fail to finish the book.

It's not that these books aren't good, but the ideas for my own story that keep invading my mind and distracting me from what I'm reading.

Nowadays, I'm too scattered to power read like that. Here's a funny thing: If a book grabs me that much, it has an odd side effect of making me want to write. So, ultimately, I end up putting it down and getting a lot of writing done.

I read through all the Harry Potter books quickly. Holly Black's Tithe got a quick read and I suspect its sequel, Valiant will also get read quickly. George R. R. Martin's tomes in the Song of Ice and Fire got dispatched quickly. And I think the current read, Killer Cocktails by Sheryl J. Anderson will be read fast--it's funny; I like funny.

1. Rising Sun: Michael Critchton: I think that I read this in two days.

2. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

3. Nine Princes in Amber - Roger Zelazney

I'm sure that there are more (even though I'm a notoriously slow reader).
