Coming Up for Air
I spent all day importing and formatting the anthology entries into InDesign. While Word and Nissus Writer formatted the smileys into cute little circles, InDesign displayed them as highlighted squares. Quite annoying.
But, I didn’t have to re-enter all of the hyperlinks! Tomorrow’s work involves compiling them all into an InDesign “book,” along with the Introduction, Acknowledgment page, TOC, and Copyright pages. I’m seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, but it can’t come fast enough.
This weekend will involve searching the Internet for the proper way to format a non-fiction book with images, writing the synopsis and query letter. I’ve got one lead for a small press publisher so far. I guess that’s better than nothing, but I’m hoping to find more.
I’ve had enough thinking and writing for today. Catch you tomorrow.

Are you going to offer the e-book thru Lulu? There is NO fee to upload and list an e-book there! If you get an ISBN for it, ($35) you can even offer it through electronic booksellers (there are a bunch of them).
I am going to get two ISBNs, one for print and one for e-book. Lulu allows authors to offer downloadable versions of their printed book at no additional charge through their site, (most authors seem to be offering a downloadable version for around $5) but it you want to offer the e-book version through any other retailers, it requires a separate ISBN.
Congratulations and appreciation on all of the time and effort you have put into this project.

Thanks, Jack.
Thanks for the tip, Marti!
I’ll look into Lulu as well as the other ebook retailers. If I can sell enough of the ebook version, I might be able to convince a publisher that this anthology is worth picking up.

Have you looked into Lulu for the print version?

Jeepers, you startled me - I came back and the design is different (Marti, blinking, rubbing eyes - LOL)

I’ve looked into Lulu as a way to print my own books. But when I started this project, a couple of the contributors made it clear that they wanted this to be traditionally published. So, I feel bound. Otherwise, I’d zip this off to Lulu or Lightning Source.
