Accident
I pulled up next to my husband’s car this morning, intent upon putting another day of packing parts behind me as quickly as possible, when I noticed something “off” about it. It didn’t take long for me to figure out what happened when I saw the condition of his trunk and bumper. I rushed into the office and found an empty desk.
My mother-in-law, who is also helping him pack parts, told me what happened. Apparently, some lady was making an illegal left turn, which forced him to stop in the fast lane of a commercial street. The truck that was behind him also stopped at a safe distance away. Another truck, racing to avoid a red light, plowed into the first truck, who plowed into my husband’s car.
He never saw it coming. One minute, he was sitting there fuming at the stupid woman, who shouldn’t have been making that turn. The next, he was lying down, looking up at his headliner. She was long gone by the time he got out of his car.
He and the other guys pulled over and exchanged information. Then he drove to work, scared, mad, and very upset. This was his first brand new car, and he’s had it around six months.
Fortunately, he didn’t get cut up. But I’m concerned about his neck and back and other things that may pop up later. So I’ll be alert to him for the next 48 - 72 hours.
This was a very upsetting day, but the good thing is that I still have my husband.

I’m sorry to hear that, Deborah. It sounds pretty bad. I hope he comes through it unscathed. Sounds like you’ll need a new car though.

I hope he’s okay in the long run. The woman never knew she caused this accident. I hope someone got her plate number or something.

John: He went to work this morning, which is encouraging. His car is in the shop right now. He said that the mechanics are confident that they can fix it.
Lee: The accident happened so fast that he didn’t think to memorize her plate number.

Deborah, you’re right about his neck. I got plowed from behind many years ago and suffered a nice case of whiplash without seeing a doctor. He may be in a good bit of discomfort in a couple days. Urge him to get checked out.

He’s gotten this advice from me and several other people. He assured me that if it gets bad enough, he’ll go.

Awww, Deb.
My wife just got her bumper kissed a few weeks ago. Brand new car, too. Yeah, it sucks.
I am so glad your other half is ok.
Keep us posted.
Better days ahead…

It’s so upsetting to have this happen. Even if no one is hurt, you still have to go through the insurance and repair ordeal. I hope that no residual pain has shown up at this time. Take care.

Thank you, Michael.
I was very relieved when he got up and went to work yesterday. I’m sorry about your wife’s car. I hope you guys were able to get it fixed.
Deb, so far the insurance companies are coorperating. We were remembering what I went through when I had my accident in ‘89 and praying that we wouldn’t have to go through the ringer again. So far, his neck feels a little tender and that’s it. His big concern is getting his car fixed.
