A Whole Lot of Writing
Beginning on Saturday, I’ve been writing almost non-stop on my blogs and WIPs. I’ve got about 5,000 words to show for my efforts, but I won’t be satisfied until I have another book cover link posted in my sidebar. Below is a link to a piece I wrote about a new documentary that is coming out on the Sci-Fi Channel.
Spooked, The Ghosts of Waverly Hill Sanatorium
Yesterday, I was looking for some good freebie writing stuff to post about and found myself lurking on two of my favorite sites for writer’s software.
MasterFreelancer.com
Writers Store
I bought Power Structure from the Writer’s store a couple of years ago and played around with it. Then I forgot about it until now. I’ve reinstalled it onto my computer and will use it to test out my plots for Prosperity and God’s Last Twilight.
GLT started as the 2004 NaNoWri project as the backstory for Prosperity, which I wrote on a blog (long gone now). But I have the completed rough draft, which contains 30,512 words. It’s been sitting on my hard drive for almost two years. A sudden block with Prosperity made me load and print it out the backstory.
I’ve been expanding GLT at a fevered pitch ever since, hoping to turn it into a novella while gaining a better feel for the malicious ghost of Prosperity at the same time.

That documentary sounds good. I will have to make sure that I watch it. Do you watch Ghostbusters…er..I mean, Ghost Hunters on Sci Fi?

Deb
Power Structure looks very interesting! One problem I run into with my longer writing is keeping track of threads and characters. I hadn’t thought of looking into software to help out. Great tip. This might shake things up a bit!

PS The Waverly Hills Sanatorium show sounds good. For some reason I think I’ve come across something about the sanatorium recently, but can’t quite remember when or where…

Fred: No, I’ve yet to watch Ghostbusters . . . er, Ghost Hunters.
Now that the season for the main networks are over, I’ll may get to watch some episodes.
Deb: Power Structure (and programs like it) help give you a visual of your story. Mindmapping is also a good technique.
I’ll have to make a point to watch that documentary. You may have seen previews on a commercial.
