You Can Fry an Egg in the Air
I don’t know how the rest of you are making out, but we’ve been having record heat in the Bay Area. Yesterday and today saw 103-degree temperatures. I stepped into my garage at around 5pm to have a cigarette, and it felt like I was in an oven. So I opened the garage door to get some ventilation.
The air was stock still. Even weirder, I didn’t hear any noise. There were no birds chirping and no sounds of cars driving. It almost felt like I had stepped into the Twilight Zone.
Just now, I went out into my backyard. The birds are chirping, and I did hear some cars drive by. But everything is still hot to the touch, including the concrete. My pool is a very comfortable 80-degrees right now.
Are you experiencing record heatwaves?

Yes, it’s been the most prolonged hot summer I can ever recall. Temperatures have hit the 100s on a few occasiones, but since early June we’ve had 80s all the way. The forecast is for even hotter weather midweek. And this is England remember!
All this has come after the most prolonged cold spell (practically all winter) that I’ve experienced too. You can’t say that weather isn’t consistent. Whatever happened to spring and autumn?

I was just commenting to my wife that this has been the worst summer in years. If it isn’t too hot and muggy to go out, it’s pouring. We had another tree fall over last night due to rain. It rains so much that the ground can no longer support the trees, causing them to fall over.

John: We’re supposed to have a cooling off period, according to the weatherman. But I never rely on that. It got up to 105 sometime yesterday afternoon. Absolutely miserable.
We’ve had similar prolonged seasons this year. It rained for almost two months straight in March and April. I was hoping that the summer wouldn’t be as bad as the winter. This seems to be a year of extremes.
Fred: You guys have been absolutely deluged this year.

It was wretched here for much of the week. Friday it rained and cooled off and was down into the 70’s, which was huge relief from the heat index of 121 we had Wednesday (naturally a record breaker for the day the boy broke down in the car - LOL!)
Hope things cool off for you soon hon!
Thank you for putting Leeuna’s article up at WBA. I told her to contact you. Not meanin’ to cause any trouble, but the template there seems a little…ummm…off? Maybe it’s just my computer. I’m using Explorer, so I probably deserve to see it messed up - LOL!

121! Ouch!! Yeah, I’m hoping things cool down for everybody.
Regarding Leeuna’s article: You’re welcome.
I just checked the WBA site on my husband’s PC, and you’re right. The sidebar is acting up again on IE. I’ll have to scan the code again and see what’s broken.
