Discovering Netflix
My sister-in-law has used the Netflix video service for over a year now and swore by it. So did my brother. It’s been years since I’ve rented a video for several reasons. Mostly, it was the hassle of remembering to collect the videos and drive back to the store to return them by the due date. This is the same reason why I don’t go to the library.
I finally broke down and signed up for a subscription the weekend before last. So far, I’m impressed with their service. There were several movies I missed due to the lack of time, or just plain forgetting. An American Haunting was one of them.
On Sunday, I watched Hide and Seek, which starred Robert DeNiro. It wasn’t the ghost story that I thought it might be, but an intensely emotional thriller that struck many chords in me. Have any of you seen The Departed? I’ve added that to my movie list.
I’ll be posting some reviews soon. Just thought I’d give you a fair warning.

Netflix is awesome. I finally figured out how to use it. I’d recommend taking some time and add any movies that you think you might want to see to your queue. I have about 40. When it’s time to get a new movie, just select whatever you are in the mood for and move it to the top of your queue. You can finally see all of those awesome japanese horror movies that Blockbuster doesn’t carry, lol.

The Departed was awesome! It’s actually based on an asian movie called Infernal Affairs, which I haven’t seen but is on my list.

I agree, Fred.
There are so many movies that I haven’t seen. Now I get to! I’m looking forward to watching The Departed.

I missed Hide and Seek too, Deborah. I plan on watching it, but don’t have a lot of time for movies these days.
The Departed? I’m not sure if I’ve heard of this or not. I look forward to your review.

Hide and Seek was a good movie (maybe I’ll review that one, too), but I have to warn you about the suicide theme. That hit some deep emotional chords in me. I don’t regret watching it, though, because it had a satisfactory ending.
Okay, I’ll definitely post my review of The Departed.

I signed up for Blockbuster online, because there are times when we think about renting a movie at the last minute, and they allow you to rent online, then return them to the store (with no time penalty) to replace with an in-store rental. The rest of their service works just like Netflix - rent online, have them mailed out and return by mail. Daughter is hot for me to do it as she checked out their anime’ selection and found a lot of titles that not available in-store.
We rent a LOT of movies - LOL! Yes, we saw The Departed, and it was good.
We’ve “forced” all of our kids to watch what we consider “classics” because there are so many references to well-known movies that they don’t “get” unless they’ve seen them! Now my daughter knows why a phone company commercial says, “You don’t give another man’s woman a foot massage, and you don’t put her in your fave five” They also understand a lot of references made in The Simpsons to classic movie quotes or moments. LOL!
Hope you have a wonderful day!

My mom likes Blockbuster, too. Our storage space for DVDs is limited, so this is a big convenience.
Have a great weekend!
