It was great visiting my husband’s relatives in Philadelphia. My husband’s grandfather will be 88 next Spring, so it was an important trip.

Washington D.C. was an experience of a lifetime, both good and bad. If any of you ever get the chance to visit this city, do not rely on MapQuest to get around. Buy a map or rely on GPS. We got lost for two hours and got an unplanned tour of one of the worst US ghettos.

Do plan to stay a week if you’re visiting the Smithsonian. There is so much to see there that you can easily spend a week and not see everything. Oh, and get some good walking shoes.

Austin was relaxed, compared to the rest of our trip. We almost didn’t make it due to our flight getting canceled at the very last minute because American Airlines wanted to make up for lost time over a light thunderstorm. As a result, we wound up spending the night in Chicago and while our luggage was shipped to Austin.

We arrived at my parents’ house the following afternoon. The next day, my sister and I took the kids out for lunch and to see the latest Harry Potter movie. It’s as good as the others.

A storm came in last night and lasted until mid-morning. This had me concerned that we weren’t going to get out of Austin. But we made it. We walked through the door about an hour ago. While I had a great time, I’m glad to finally be home. My husband is already talking about DisneyWorld!
