2007 NaNoWriMo
I’m curious. How many of you plan to participate in this year’s NaNoWriMo contest? I missed last year’s contest because I had too many things going on at the time. This year, I’m thinking about participating. I have a short synopsis already and am going to attempt to use the Snowflake method to write this into something I hope is worthwhile.

I plan to do the whole thing, mostly during work hours.

The what now?

Awesome, Ben! Good to see you again.
Thord: NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writer’s Month. It’s a contest where you write 50,000 words, beginning November 1st and ending at midnight, November 30th. It’s a lot of fun.

I’m crazy, so I decided to do it again, even if I’ll likely fail (classes, school assignments and my job have to come first, after all). But I don’t care. If it could only prompt me to fall back into a more regular writing routine, that would already be a huge success for me.

I’m all signed up and ready to go. This will be my first time out, and of course it hits me at a very busy time. But they say, “If you want something done, find a busy person.” So I guess that means I’ll get it done, right? lol
BTW, what exactly is the “Snowflake Method”?

Good to see you again Yzabel.
I can relate about life getting in the way. Sometimes there’s no way around it. Good luck with everything.
Terry: Awesome! You’ll have a blast. Here’s a link to the Snowflake Method. It’s a method of writing devised by Randy Ingermanson.

I’ll be trying it out. Again. I hope this year I’ll get further and actually finish it.
Like last year, I find myself terrified, panic creeping around the corner.
God, I missed that feeling

Me, too, Jane.
My average is 25,000 words before I conk out.

I stopped at 12 000 last year. Hell I think deep inside I was thankfull to the RL that it kicked in. But you know how it is. You can’s say no to NaNo
deborah.woehr on 21 Oct 2007 at 1:44 pm #
I had to say no last year, but this year it’s calling to me.

I’ll be doing it, Deborah. I’m currently using Snowflake to sort out a few rough spots in my plan and it’s coming along wonderfully. If you take the plunge be sure to let me know your user name so that we can be “buddies”.
deborah.woehr on 22 Oct 2007 at 5:32 am #
That’s great, Karen.
I’ll send you my user name.
Yzabel on 22 Oct 2007 at 7:18 am #
I’d be happy to end up with 25k words. That’d certainly be much more than right now!
deborah.woehr on 22 Oct 2007 at 4:16 pm #
25k is a good number.

I’m out this year. I know that I say that every year, but this time I mean it, lol. I’ve come to accept that I like to take my time with writing. The end result is always better for me if I take my time and let me ideas stretch out instead of forcing things to happen.
deborah.woehr on 23 Oct 2007 at 4:35 pm #
I haven’t quite made up my mind whether or not I’m going to participate. It all depends if I can draw up a decent outline first. If I can, then I’m in.
