Creative Frenzy
Writing
I’ve finished the rewrites of Chapters 3 through 5. I feel like I’ve gotten a better sense of who my antagonist is. The mind mapping technique is really helping me out not only for character development, but to get a visual of what should happen by the end of each act. With this technique, I’ve divided my story into three acts, which makes it much more manageable. I have this project and several articles on my growing “To Write” list.
Book Design
The book design project I’m working on is going very well. We’re heading towards the end of the formatting process and on to the publishing process. It’s been so long since I’ve designed a book that I had forgotten how badly Word misbehaves with InDesign. Lots of formatting issues had to be straightened out. I went online to find a good text cleaner and found two programs: Clean Text for Mac OS X and Text Soap. Those will come in very handy when I have to work with .doc files in the future. The next challenge will involve placing the pages in the correct sequence so that the chapters are positioned according to plan.
This is the fourth book that I’ve designed since the 2006 Writer’s Blog Anthology, but the first I’ve designed for someone else. I’m very excited to see how this book looks once it’s printed.
