Hanging in There
Today marks the end of February is almost here, and I realized that I haven’t written a single post on this blog. I’ve started to write things, only to chuck them because they depressed me and added no new perspective than what is already floating around in cyberspace. So I’ve been doing what I always do when I get anxious and/or depressed: throw myself into my work.
So far, I’ve finished seven chapters of Shades of Evil. The story has come along nicely, thanks to the outline I had written for the NaNoWriMo project. I’ve changed a lot of things, however, to sharpen the story’s focus and intent.
I’ve made about two dozen wallpapers for my website. So far, no bites for paid assignments. That’s not unusual. It normally takes 3 years to get a business off the ground and with this economy . . . well, you can say my timing sucks sometimes. A lady approached me about teaching her how to design her own background on Monday. Last month, a man asked me for suggestions on how to design his own background. So, maybe the original direction I took with this website wasn’t the right one. I’m brainstorming for better ideas that would make this site stand out from the half-dozen that it’s competing with.
In the meantime, I’m learning how social media works. I’m making friends and getting in touch with childhood friends that I haven’t seen since I graduated high school. Somehow, I managed to sign up with Facebook (first attempt, they locked me out . . . don’t know why). These sites are addicting, so I’ve taken to scheduling blocks of time where I use them. Otherwise, I wouldn’t get anything done.
When I’m not clacking away at the computer, I’m hanging out with my family. My husband and I would like to see the new Nicholas Cage movie that’s coming out next month. It’s called Knowing. We’ve enjoyed Cage’s last several movies, although Wicker was a bit strange.
I hope you all are doing well.

Good to see you come back, and congrats on getting some work done.
I’ll have to look you up on Facebook. It’s pretty addictive and I love it. I guess it’s a kind of blessing that it’s blocked at work then because that’s where I get most of my writing and blogging done.
Thanks, Ben.
It’s good to be back.
I just found you on Facebook. You’re right. All of these social media platforms are addicting. It’s kind of taken over my free time, which is both good and bad.
February must have been just one of “those” months, Deborah. I didn’t post to my blog more than a couple of times and I didn’t really get a lot of writing done. I’m glad to see you’re getting things happening though.
(I’ll have to find you on Facebook too, which will be easy now that you’re friends with Benjamin.)
Glad to have you and Ben on Facebook with me.
