Scrapping NaNoWriMo This Year

by deborah.woehr on November 15, 2009

I started this year’s contest with the best intentions, but it just didn’t happen. Every time I launched my word processor, my mind would immediately focus on the rewrite of Shades of Evil, even as I stared at the words of the outline I started the weekend before the start date. My progress on that is still going well. I’m about finished with Chapter 9, and the story is progressing nicely so far.

The characters are making more sense to me. There is more emotion than in the first draft. However, I’m now undecided as to how the climax is going to play itself out. Once I finish Act I, I’m going to have to pull up my mind maps again and see if I can figure it out. It’s either that or do what I’ve always done . . . wing it and see what happens.

Do what you have to do.
I definitely understand.
If I wrote fiction, I would have done NaNo . . .
Maybe I’m glad I write non-fiction, huh?
Hope you and yours are well.
If I don’t talk to you, Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Deborah, it’s good to see you posting again. It’s been quiet here, but I’m glad to here that you’re writing…even if it’s not for NaNo.

Hi, Karen!

I know. Time keep slipping away from me. Hope you and your family are doing well.

I didn’t even attempt it – LOL! We have had to spend so much time with grandma I don’t find time to tweet, write blog posts or comment anywhere! Plus my RSS is messed up and says my last post was 6 months ago. I don’t know how to fix that though (note to self, contact webmistress *grin*)

Just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey, Marti! I know what you mean about the time. It’s been crazy at my place, too. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving! :)
